Vic Selby, Author And My Father
There are times in life that are hard to bear and this has been one of the toughest. My father passed away just before Christmas with most of his family around him. It was expected, though not nearly quite so soon, but no matter how much I thought I was prepared, it wrenched my soul to see the light in his eyes slip away. He will always have a piece of my heart.
I am truly honoured that he wanted to give me the rights to his books. For him, they were a labour of love. The "A Land Apart" trilogy, based in the 12th and 13th centuries, was an inspiration that began with tracing his family tree so far back. His stories are dramatised from actual happenings. The artworks for the covers were a real challenge for me in interpreting his specific ideas and discussing what may or may not work, but I think he was always pleased with the outcome.
His last novel, "Run From The Red Tide" was published just a few weeks before he died. It is about an East German family torn apart during the latter years of the second world war. Although very different to his historical trilogy, it is still based on true events and covers the same hardships of struggle and survival. The art work for this book was just as challenging!
His website has come under my wing and I'll cherish and maintain it for as long as I am able. His books will always be available to purchase at the Amazon Store, both in paperback and Kindle version, and I know he is my Dad, but they are great stories!
Dad will live on in our hearts and memories, and his stories will continue to fire up the imagination of others as they open the pages to read his words.
